Certified Professional EMR Specialist (CPEMS)

The PACS Administrators Registry and Certification Association (PARCA) introduced a new EMR administration certification in 2012 as part of a revitalization process for certification levels for Health care Imaging and IT professionals. This certification as a Certified Professional EMR Specialist (CPEMS) allows individuals to gain knowledge about EMR components and EMR system administration. The CPEMS certification requires a detailed knowledge about the EMR systems, and all of the applicable interface standards such as DICOM, HL7 and IHE, but especially the documentation exchange as defined by HL7 version 3 (CDA). In addition, the necessary steps for an EMR implementation preparation are to be mastered as well.
