January has brought exciting new changes to PARCA as we complete our transition to a non-profit organization.
PARCA recognizes that PACS education is not solely a U.S.-based effort, and will be providing its experience and leadership to the international PACS community. Our new Board brings a strong international presence, including representatives from Australia, Asia and Canada as well as the US.
The new board members are: Chuck Willis, President; Jamie Osland, Vice President; Ed Smith, John Carrino, Larry Filipow and Michael Ong.
 According to PARCA President Chuck Willis, "The new directors are especially pleased that Herman Oosterwijk has agreed to remain involved as an advisor to the board. We also appreciate the support that OTech has provided PARCA since its inception."
 PARCA Vice President Jamie Osland commented, "PACS Administration training, accreditation, and recognition of this evolving field of expertise in medical imaging is a worldwide issue. PARCA, with an on-line and structured approach to certification, is committed to a global focus on certification. The appointment of the new board of Directors from around the world and an Australian as Vice President emphasizes our dedication to an international focus. As Vice President, I am looking forward to continuing the drive for a worldwide approach to PACS Administrator Certification and hope to strengthen relationships with my international colleagues."
We have developed a new Test Committee who will suggest curricula changes and prepare exams to ensure that PARCA students are able to demonstrate their professional skills with the latest technologies in healthcare IT.
Over the coming months the Board will be reviewing and strengthening PARCAs strategic direction. They will work with our Test Committee to ensure the continuing integrity of our exams.
Annual Meeting
We are pleased to announce that PARCA will be holding our annual meeting this year during SIIM 2009 in Charlotte, NC. The open meeting will be at the Westin Hotel on Thursday June 4th at 6.30pm. Come along and meet our new Board members! We’ll announce more details closer to the event.
