As most PACS Administrators well know, one of the fastest growing professions in the field of radiology has been and continues to be PACS Administration. Currently, an  estimated 4,000 people
who now work as PACS Administrators are eligible for
certification, and experts predict that the rapid growth
in PACS installations could add another 6,000 to that
figure within the next four years.
For the
industry, PACS certification promises to enhance
technological development in radiology informatics. For
the PACS Administrator, certification is an opportunity
to demonstrate proficiency and accomplishment to
employers for professional advancement.
As you
prepare for your certification and even after you are
credentialed, it is critical to stay current on new
developments in the PACS environment. Key areas for PACS
Administrators to focus on include the latest technical
information on how to optimize a PACS workstation,
insight into changes in the radiology command center and
its workflow as well as foresight into where the
migration of PACS is headed.
